Billing

A Spot Instance is billed pay-as-you-go, like any Cloud Server: the active hours of the server are counted. The difference is that, on the hours spent as spot, the discount locked at creation applies.

How the discount works

  • The discount is locked at creation time and never changes: it is a snapshot of the spot price list at that moment. Even if the plan's discount is later changed or removed, the instance keeps the percentage it was created with.
  • The discount applies for the whole spot window: from creation until termination (by reclaim or deletion) or until promotion.
  • After a promotion to on-demand the spot discount ends: the hours before the promotion stay discounted, the later ones fall under the plan's normal on-demand rate.
